I love this badge! Finding extra research on a topic often mean weeding through several different articles and/or video clips. I think this will be a badge that Lee can certainly use. What program did you create your badge in? I am more confident creating leader boards but I still feel like I need more information on creating badges. Perhaps I just need to find my creative inspiration. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your badge.
I typically use a variety of programs when I create badges. I’ve used anything from Word to PowerPoint and even Smart Note. I’ve been working on a Mac for the last couple weeks (but typically work on a PC) so I just made do with what I had. I started the Badge initially in Word obtaining the magnifying glass form Clip Art. I added the circular text inside the glass. I couldn’t move things as freely in Word on the Mac so I shifted to PowerPoint. In PowerPoint, I got more precision and was able to place items on the page exactly where I wanted them from a design standpoint. I also added the shadow behind the text of the glass. I Google-imaged the research word with the mouse included and thought that would go really well. I added a simple text description of the badge with a text box. Last step, I took a screen shot to capture just the parts I wanted.
This is much better than my badge. I think I had a few students in mind when I made my badge (besides myself), and most students would be very perplexed if they received it.
If I were a student, I’d probably be pretty excited to receive the fact-finder badge (as far as any badge goes).
